The Council of Ministers adopted the long-term programme designated as “Assistance in financing railway infrastructure management costs, including infrastructure maintenance and repairs through 2023”. The maintenance programme is aimed to ensure an essential level of railway infrastructure quality, handle maintenance delays, preserve railway lines and implement long-term agreements for maintenance and repair of railway lines. The minister of infrastructure, Andrzej Adamczyk, noted that the programme would be crucial for PKP in making plans for maintenance and repair works on a multiannual basis.
The programme will be funded by the state budget and the Railway Fund. About PLN 23.8bn (€5.7bn) in public funds will be allocated for the implementation of the programme in 2019-2023, including PLN 21bn (€5bn) from the state budget.
